Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her early appearances on Broadway include the musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers for most of her career. Ashford's next venture will be a limited edition Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show premieres on November 22, and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently filming on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. It's also available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford, who will appear alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that created Hamilton directed the musical. Ashford's most recent part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford appeared for two seasons in CBS hit comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the popular series developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her performance as Essie. The actress has also performed in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original character of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for an Tony Award. Ashford lives in Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and grew up there.
